Get up, shower, brush teeth, get dressed, drive to work, work, lunch, work, drive home, empty mailbox, cook dinner, eat with family, clean up, do everyday things, read, watch news on TV, brush teeth, go to bed. Autopilot mode.
My life runs in an orderly fashion: busy but manageable, hectic at times, mostly unspectacular yet satisfying, predictable. Integrated into a functioning system consisting of family, circle of friends and work environment. Lived everyday life in a safe and prosperous country.
Is this my life?
Can I dare to want more? Can I just think it, but not tell anyone? What if this thought becomes stronger and stronger, it spreads inexorably in my head, nestles in my brain passages so that I can no longer rest? Am I allowed to be dissatisfied as a healthy woman with a good education, a great family and a strong partnership of many years?
So I begin to question what exactly it is that is not allowing me to rest. Which part of me wants change and which? For me, it's not about finding great happiness forever and ever, permanently floating on cloud nine and proving to everyone how successful I am. No, I want to deal openly and honestly with myself and my shortcomings, my wishes, needs and dreams, to accept myself as I am and to stand by myself. So I can only find something in myself that lets me go my way. Keeping an eye on the inside instead of letting myself be distracted in this fast-moving world and jumping from one to the other.
It is up to me what I make of my life. Yes, I am privileged to be able to ask myself such questions and for that very reason, all the more responsible to go my way.
I break away from the familiar, change my perspective, break through entrenched behavior patterns, leave my comfort zone, follow my heart resolutely and unwaveringly. Forget what you learned. Forget what you heard. Forget in what you believed. Just follow your heart.
Because I trust that what is right for me will come if I am willing to let it and embrace the unknown. Because the universe is greater than we know. Open your heart and let it in.
To follow this path consistently, persistently and courageously, means leaving the orderly paths, sometimes walking on a beaten track, balancing over a narrow ridge, scrambling up steep inclines and making sure that I don't slide down the slope: labor-intensive, but varied, hectic at times, mostly unspectacular and yet satisfying, unpredictable. Integrated into a functioning system consisting of family, circle of friends and my self-created work environment. Lived departure in a safe and prosperous country.
Yes, this is my life!
