We felt like composing a Christmas song, something between traditional and modern with rock elements and traditional Christmas instruments as well.
Thomas, our bass player, spent hours analyzing traditional Christmas songs that have been with us since childhood. Especially the vocal melody should sound traditional. Supplemented with guitar, bass, drums, piano as well as traditional instruments like flute and xylophone, GIVE A HELPING HAND was born.
On the one hand, it was weird to record two songs in the studio that couldn't be more different in terms of subject matter. First the anti-war song PEOPLE'D RATHER RUN THAN LEARN and then the Christmas song GIVE A HELPING HAND. On the other hand, we realized that this is definitely a metaphor for our world: joy and sorrow are so close together....
Tradition also meets modernity in the video for the song. Static photographs, classical images around the theme of Christmas and statements of the lyrics were animated by using AI. Thus, small film sequences were created. These "film snippets" were arranged to the complete video “Give A Helping Hand”.
